Gaza's orphans need us now.
Thousands of children in Gaza no longer have anyone to call Mum or Dad. There's no one waiting for them at the end of the day, no one making sure they have eaten. No one to comfort them when they are frightened, guide them when they are lost, or reassure them when the world feels overwhelming. The people who were supposed to protect them have returned to Allah.
£65 will provide a hot meal and a blanket bundle to an orphan in Gaza.
In Islam, children like these are not left to fend for themselves. The responsibility of caring for them is placed upon the Ummah. Upon all of us. When a child loses their parents, we are called upon to step forward and help provide the care, protection and support they need. Today, Gaza's orphans need exactly that.
Supporting Gaza's orphaned children.
MATW is helping provide both immediate relief and long-term support for orphaned and vulnerable children across Gaza. Your donation can help support work such as:
- Providing food packs for orphaned children and the families caring for them.
- Delivering hot meals to children facing hunger.
- Supplying clean drinking water where access remains limited.
- Providing clothing, bedding and essential daily items.
- Supporting safe shelter for displaced children and families.
- Helping children return to education through schools and learning programmes.
- Providing psychological support for children dealing with trauma, grief and loss.
- Supporting medical care for children who are sick, injured or living with long-term health conditions.
- Providing ongoing care and support for orphaned and vulnerable children.
What childhood looks like in Gaza today?
Newborn babies are being cared for in hospitals under extreme pressure, where electricity, equipment and medical supplies may be limited. Doctors and medical teams continue working in difficult conditions, doing what they can to protect fragile lives.
Mothers sit beside their babies, exhausted and afraid, without the basic support every newborn should have. For some families, baby milk, clean water, nappies, skincare and medical care are not guaranteed. These are not luxuries. They are the basics of life.
Families queue for food, sometimes for hours. Children go to sleep hungry, hoping for something as simple as a hot meal. Water is collected, carried and rationed carefully. In some places, families are forced to rely on sources that may not be safe.
The shelters are crowded. The risks are growing.
In overcrowded shelters, families sleep on floors in tight spaces. Sanitation is often poor. Waste, flies, insects and a lack of hygiene supplies can increase the risk of illness. Children may develop skin infections, stomach illnesses and other conditions that need treatment.
And for injured children, the suffering can be long term. Some children in Gaza are now living with life-changing injuries and need medical care, mobility support, rehabilitation and protection for the future.
This is not the childhood any child should have. But your donation can help bring relief.
Rebuilding Gaza means rebuilding lives
Restoring what has been lost means more than repairing buildings. It means helping restore the basics of childhood.
It means supporting hospitals so babies can be delivered more safely and injured children can be treated. It means helping provide baby milk, nappies, skincare and medical support so mothers and newborns can get through those first fragile months. It means supporting access to clean water, regular food, hygiene, shelter and care that families can rely on.
It also means looking beyond the first emergency. Children who have been injured may need rehabilitation and long-term support. Children who have lost months or years of education need help returning to learning. Orphans and vulnerable children need care, guidance and protection so they are not left to grow up alone.
To help rebuild Gaza, we must help rebuild the lives inside it.
In Islam, children are an amanah.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"I and the one who cares for an orphan will be in Paradise like this,"
and he held his two fingers together.
(Sahih al-Bukhari)
Few responsibilities are spoken about with such honour in our faith. Orphans are an amanah entrusted to the Ummah. Their care is not somebody else's responsibility. It belongs to all of us.
We cannot replace what these children have lost.
But we can help ensure they are fed, clothed, educated, protected and cared for. We can help ensure they are not left to face life alone. To a child who has lost everything, that support means more than we can imagine.
When you donate to a project, 100% of your donation (after merchant/ banking fees) will be used for direct project costs and/ or for donor engagement and raising funds to be reinvested in that project or other MATW projects. Please see our 100% donation policy for more information.
